Electrolux Magnum with electronic tracking device

Electrolux is the world leader in domestic appliances. For their washing machines they obtain parts from all over Europe, so it’s important to consider the transport and packaging carefully. The deterioration, high annual disposal costs combined with the effect on the environment, forced Electrolux to seek for a solution to replace wooden pallets and cardboards.

The requirements were a plastic pallet with the dimensions 1200 x 1000 x 1200 which would protect all types of parts including bulky washing machine spares during transport. To reduce packaging the pallet had to be re-usable, optimize volume loads and reduce storage space transport. But also a provision for a built in electronic tracking device in order to monitor transportation, deliveries and customer stock levels was required.

Schoeller Arca Systems proposed the foldable large container Magnum 1200 x 1000 x 1200 with cover. As Electrolux was impressed with Schoeller Arca Systems’ customer service and the attention to detail, the contract was signed in less than a month.

The new packaging solution resulted in increased transport efficiency due to a load increase of 25% per truck a larger product load per container. But also the storage space has been economized. When folded and stacked the Magnum’s volume is a mere 30% of its original size and the sturdiness and stackable qualities of the pallet container has decreased product breakages.
